Day 1 at Home - originally posted 4/3/03

Hi Everyone,
I thought I would email you while Elizabeth is sleeping. We just wanted to make sure you all knew how much your emails, wishes and prayers meant to all of us while we were in China. I can't wait for you all to meet Elizabeth. She charmed her Grandpa, Great Uncle Jerry, Uncle Kevin and Aunt Doreen and Reenie yesterday at the airport and at home. She also got to meet her cousin Alissa yesterday too. If you were able to catch WCCO news, Alissa is the person that made those wonderful Welcome Home signs for us. Thanks Alissa!

Thanks to the friends that stopped by yesterday. It was good to see you. Elizabeth and I had a nap yesterday afternoon. She woke up about 4 and I woke up about 4:30. Reenie was here so she heard my daughter. I was so tired, I didn't hear her right away. Glad Reenie was here. Dad was here until we went to bed and when I woke up and came into the living room, he was here too. I guess Elizabeth let Dad hold her... I didn't get to see it, but Reenie got it on camera. I just knew she would love her Papa. It didn't take long for Elizabeth to smile for people either. She cried a little at the airport, I think she was overwhelmed with everything.

She is sleeping right now and I will be waking her up soon. I don't want her to sleep so much that she doesn't get a good nights sleep tonight. We both slept very well last night and I am very thankful to be back in my bed. Those hard beds got to me.

When we get aclimated a bit more, I will send an updated email. Just wanted to thank you all.

Love Joan and Elizabeth.

p.s. Thanks again to Aunt Joanne for going with us. We couldn't have done it without you. Hope you are rested now too!
