I love my neighbors

Last night when we got home our front walk was shoveled... how cool. I am going to thank Mrs G but I have to do it when her kids aren't around. She is in her 70's maybe 80 and should not be doing that but I don't want to get her in trouble.

Today I had the afternoon off and came home after shopping to finish the drive ways. I was going to use my snow blower to do mine and Mrs G's. Well Darn it, I couldn't get the thing started - and it has an electric start. Who pulls up but one of Mrs G's sons. He tried and couldn't get it started but then he used his snow blower to clean his mom's drive way and part of mine. I shoveled alot of it but he got the crude left by the big snow plow that went through the alley.

As we were working on our parts, here came Mrs K's son. It felt like I was a young girl again with the kids in the neighborhood.

I love this house and I love this neighborhood. I wasn't sure about moving back into the old homestead when Dad moved to assisted living 6 years ago, but its feeling like home again.

It hit me today while shoveling, I have known these people since I was 4 and 7. That's a long time. Thank you Dad for letting Elizabeth and I have this chance to reconnect and make deeper relationships with the kids I used to play Touch the Tape* with and Red Rover and Kick Ball on the corner.

And the driveways look pretty good!

*Touch the Tape is just like Kick the Can except Mr G put heavy duty tape in the middle of the street in front of our two houses. The same concept though. The tape is long gone but not the memory.
