School Conferences and St Patty's Day

Conferences were last night and I am very proud of my girls.  Elizabeth's teacher told me so many good things about how hard she is working and how excited she gets when she sees words she knows.  Elizabeth is getting great results with her Chinese reading/writing/math.  She is working hard on getting better with the English reading and math.  Her penmanship is excellent in her character writing as well as English.  Elizabeth is learning great studying skills and will continue to catch up in English reading.  She loves math and I think her scores would be better if her reading was better.  We are working on it so I expect that will no longer be an issue for her soon.  Last night she was reading for Ella and I and the confidence was there in her voice.  I am very proud of the hard work!

Ella's teacher also told me great stuff about her too. Ella got 100% right on her Math and Chinese tests in Kindergarten.  She loves to sing in class (sometimes too loud) and loves her friends.  Sometimes she daydreams in class but can be refocused right away.  She also has made friends with the boy that was mean to her not too long ago.  Great job Ella!  She is blowing me away with her reading ability and I am so proud of her.  Ella's teacher also told me she has to remind Ella to ask her friends before she hugs them.  LOL  I couldn't help but think back to the little girl I met in China.  Thank you God for letting my girl know that it was safe to open up her heart again.

Today is the last day of school before spring break for the girls.

Ella's teacher sent home a note last week saying they were going to have dress up day.  The kids could bring props/clothes to represent what they want to be when they grow up.  I bet those of you that know Ella personally know exactly what she brought.  I thought about redirecting her to bring the toy medical kit, but decided to let her be.  Ella brought her princess dress and shoes.  Too bad we didn't think to bring her crown as well.

I am updating the blog during my lunch and for the first time in over 25 years, I can say I saw the St Patrick's Day parade downtown. I went to a sub shop to get a sandwich and walked around all the people in green.  Most were well behaved but I am sure some had enjoyed "beverages"  We used to go during high school.  Usually I was grounded and couldn't go but I did go once or twice.  For some reason our high school had the day off for St Patty's day and of course we partied.  There was one time we all met at Cindy T's house a few blocks from mine.  Dad was at work and my brothers were at school (their school wasn't closed ha ha) so even though I was grounded, I left home and went and met my friends.  Thank  you Reenie for the email reminding me of the parades we went to even when we didn't behave.

Happy St Patty's day everyone!
