Ella

On Friday Ella was sick.  I think it was just something she ate but it was tough on her Thursday night.  Thankfully I was working from home on Friday and could do a good day's work while she rested and watched movies.  I had emailed her speech teacher to let her know that Ella was out since Friday's are one of the days she meets with her.  I got the coolest reply about my girl:
I observed Ella speaking in front of her class at their morning meeting this past Wednesday.  She did a wonderful job talking clearly and confidently in Mandarin.  She said "My best friends are all the students in Yi Nian Er Ban (1B class)"  Instead of giving a few names as "my best friends," she said "all of the students in her class" are her best friends.  I thought this is such a sweet (and politically correct) way to name her best friends.   I noticed that most kids would just name a few students as their best friends, which sometimes hurt the other students who were not being named as one of the friends.  Ella was so smart and sweet to include everyone.

She also mentioned that she wanted to be a teacher she she grew up.  Maybe you already knew that, but I think that is a great job and would be for her if she chooses so.

I hope you and your family have a great long weekend.  I look forward to seeing Ella healthy and cheerful like usual next week.
I was able to pat Ella on the back and let her know how proud I am of her good work.

Yesterday I only worked in the morning since the girls had the day off and Ella was a huge help.  She made all the beds and put away the clean clothes.  Thank you Ella!
