Lessons Learned

Sometimes procrastination is my best friend.   The girls kept saying they wanted to share a room.  Well I wasn't in the mood to redecorate yet so they have been sleeping in Elizabeth's room on the bunk bed.  Last night was one too many fights and now this weekend we are going to go shopping for a bed for Ella.  You see we gave away her bed because I was going to get the girls matching twin beds.  I still plan on doing that but the beds will be in different rooms.   Clearly they need their own space.   :-)   The bunkbed is going to another family member so all is good.

I am learning to not react when I hear them yelling at each other this week.  I know their tempers are short because they are tired.  The adoption / ymca camp is wearing them out.  I am thankful it is only one week.  They are getting alot out of it, but need more sleep.  So that lesson learned will be to take the week off gymnastics too next year so we can just chill at home after.  It also reinforces my decision to change them to a more laid back summer care option.  Last year they were at a fun place but were on the go so much and tired at night.  This year I signed them up for Chinese Daycare.  It is more controlled and almost all the activities are on site.  The only one they leave for is to walk to the library.  The other plus is they get to practice their chinese over the summer and even work on math and reading (chinese) one day as well.

Joan, You're doing a great job and you have great instincts when it comes to your girls. I'm wondering if the Adoption Camp is also stirring up some emotions for your girls. I think it is great that they're attending--but perhaps it could be a contributor to the discord? Hang in there my friend.
