Breaking Bread

Last night families were invited to join in on the Second Graders Faith Formation class.  We were all asked to bring bread to share.  The teachers had the table set up like the Last Supper and talked about Jesus, God, Moses and showed us the prayer circle and candles they use each week.  We all got our hands washed by each other to symbolize Jesus washing his Disciples feet.  There was awesome music and wonderful lessons.

One of the teachers talked about how God tried convincing the Pharaoh of Egypt to let his people go and how He sent different calamities to convince him to let them out of slavery.  The last thing was he was going to kill the first born of each family.  That led Ella to ask many questions and the teachers were more patient then me.  I learned a great lesson because Ella's questions were very insightful and valid.

They started talking more about Moses and how he was put in a basket and found by the Princess.  They also said Moses' sister watched him float away.  Ella really processed that and mentioned adoption.  Deep heart my girl has.

But, I was very moved by the ceremony and thought it was a great transition to Easter and to getting ready for First Communion in May.

Our favorite breads were the Hawaiian and the chocolate.  (we brought the Hawaiian)
