Ella went to church during school yesterday and received her ashes. When we drove home from after care, she told me she was going to try and not get angry at her sister for Lent and to have more patience. This will be interesting. :-)
Elizabeth and I needed to go to the evening mass which we did. On the way there, Elizabeth kept asking me what she should do for Lent. I made many suggestions - most of them were answered by Elizabeth with "like that is gonna happen" ;-) So, I told her to pray about it and to realize it had to be something that was tough and a sacrifice. During church she said she had one. She is going to not bite her fingernails. :-)
I am giving up pop. That is going to be hard but I can do it.
I also suggested that Elizabeth make it a goal to be on time to school. She has been late 3 times since January (only a couple of minutes so it doesn't affect Ella or me just affects Elizabeth). She didn't think that would be a good one for Lent but said she will work on it.
I also want to find a service project for the 3 of us to do. I am still looking so any types or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
One of the suggestions I gave Elizabeth was to make cookies or treats for the people at Grandpa's nursing home. I think instead I am going to call and see if they need volunteers on Sundays to bring people down to Mass and back up. Elizabeth is a little intimidated by the residents so if we do it together, maybe that will help her. Ella loves everyone. I fear she would talk their ears off though. :-)
