April Updates

April was a good month but I don't have many pictures.

We enjoyed Easter with our family and needed to pick up supplies at the grocery store and look who we ran into.  Sorry I cut off his ears.  He also gave the girls suckers.

A couple of days earlier, Elizabeth took out her Easy Bake Oven and made treats.  She thought about making them for Easter but there were alot of people coming to Kevin and Doreens and it would have take a very very long time to make.  But the treats were really good

Also in April Ella had her Pediatric Cleft Dental appointment.  Ella has an underbite and we are trying to fix it without surgery.  The appointment was to get a retainer put in so she can do the night mask mechanism.  It had a cushion for her forehead and one for her chin.  And it is all attached to a straight metal pin.  On the pin by her mouth is a cross bar and she attaches binders to the cross bar and attaches them to her retainer in her mouth.  We did this a few years ago and it was successful. Her upper jaw did move forward.  Unfortunately, it has moved back. (Part of the reason was her retainers kept breaking because her mouth was growing so fast.  The space maintainer didn't fit right and when I found out she wasn't wearing it at night I didn't push for a new one.  I should have.)  I am hoping this time we can keep the change and not have to do another surgery.  But, this type of appointment is always hard on Ella.  They have to get a mold of her mouth and then put the retainer on with that yucky glue.  She was stressed about it but brought help.

You can see her stress but she has great self talk.  I was there and encouraging her but Ella did it all herself. She talked herself off the anxiety and was just a little worried.  We go in next week and I am hoping they will be able to see some great movement.  A couple of times now Ella's top teeth are knocking into her bottom teeth so that would seem to me that they are moving forward.  Great Job Ella.

Here is a picture of Ella and Elizabeth showing Ella with her first night mask back in 2009.  This one is the same except the color

April was a highly creative month for my kids too.

Ella's dance class was ending so they had the parent visit on the last session.  She looks so pretty in her dancing clothes.  She is a beautiful dancer as well.

Elizabeth has been very creative as well.  One of her art pieces she did at school was entered in an art show for kids.  It was shown at the Creative Arts High school in St Paul.  I was very impressed by her work and can't wait to see how she develops.  She is always working on something creative, drawing, painting, making bracelets as well as making cards and knitting.   Its fun to watch what she creates and I love seeing them all.  I have two bracelets on that she made for me as well.

Elizabeth's teacher only helped a little on this self portrait.  She helped Elizabeth with drawing her glasses.  I am so impressed by this poster.  Look at all the important things she has highlighted!  Great job Elizabeth.

Our parish puts on a parish festival in May every year.  Its loads of fun and I guess they sell buttons. I didn't realize that before my daughter was in the school.  But all the kids that wanted to designed a button.  They then picked one design from each grade as one of the buttons.  Mr Z, the principal had told me earlier that Ella asked him daily if he had made the decision yet.  He said she was cute about it but really wanted to know who won.  Well Ella's design was chosen from the 3rd grade.  Here it is:
Its all about Ella and her friends having fun.  They are all smiling and holding on to each other. And it has the rainbow colors - Ella loves rainbows.

Great month girls.

In the art work from both of your girls you can see their happiness and joy. It is very touching. They are very talented and are lucky to have a mom who supports their creativity. Bravo!
