Part one was to do a display board on an animal subject approved by the teacher. Ella asked to do something about the top 10 endangered animals. This is a subject near and dear to Ella so I thought that would be so easy. Well she wanted to deepen her knowledge of the facts and it took multiple hours to do. She did allow me to print out the pictures she can use on the board but she wanted to do the facts. She did decide to use the laptop to write them down to attach to the board. I thought that was a good idea. Well Sunday she was working on it for 4 or 5 hours and was extremely stressed out. I made her stop at 9 so she could sleep. Then yesterday after school she worked on it but then left me a voice message that she couldn't find the document. Thankfully Elizabeth found it for her before I got home. I even tried to sneak in some new facts for the LowLand Gorilla but Ella caught me and redid them. After skating Ella let me do the typing and she dictated the text. So she finished the 10 animals yesterday.
Today she has to do 5 facts on 5 MN animals and I found some great information on the DNR website so I hope she is able to get those done to her satisfaction. I really can't wait to see the finished product but next time we will make sure we have budgeted the free time so that she doesn't have to do this on school nights. I am beat. :-)
Pictures from 1/12/16 during the creation of the presentation board.
It was a full family event - even Mr Rosie added his two cents.
The dry layout to make sure it all fit. Elizabeth sprayed the back of each of those with the spray glue. We probably should have put plastic down on the floor before that because now we have to wash the kitchen floor. After the piece was glued it was handed to me or Ella but Ella did all the placements.
Finished and making sure it is all dry before we fold it together.
Wish the light was better on sweet Ella.
Today (1/13/16) Elizabeth sent me an email asking me to bring in the permission slip for her field trip. It was due yesterday. I guess this science project took up all my brain and I totally forgot the slip. Thankfully I can run it to school since I am working from home today.
Ella was up until 10 again last night and then up at 6 to finish it all up. Tonight she will be chilling and relaxing and no homework except studying her spelling. I was able to watch the President last night while Ella was working and also got my steps in while watching so that was a plus. ;-) And I thought the President's speech was great. I am going to miss the Obama's as our First Family.
