We had a great weekend.
Elizabeth and I went to one of the nicest weddings on Saturday. The ceremony was at Assumption church in Downtown St Paul and the reception was in Stillwater. You couldn't have asked for a better day weather wise! My aunt Joanne and Uncle Jerry came in from Elk River to see my dad and to get Ella. So, Ella had a great time with Grandma Jo and Uncle Jerry too! It was really nice spending time with just Elizabeth. Once the dancing started, Elizabeth was mostly dancing with the other kids. And her main partner was Michael. He was the ring bearer and is a great friend. His mom is my friend Reenie's niece. The bride and groom, Stephanie and Joe, thought of everything. They had gift bags for the kids, kids meals, light up necklaces and pizza at the end. It was a well thought out entertaining event.
Sunday morning, after breakfast, we took advantage of the pool at the hotel we were staying at. Elizabeth and I spent almost 2 hours in the pool. I even had a little time in the hot tub. We ran into other friends from the wedding there. Checkout was at 11:00 so we went back up to the room about 10, showered packed and left. We were both hungry from the swimming so on the way to Elk River to get Ella we stopped at McDonalds. After that Elizabeth fell asleep for a little bit.
When we got to Elk River, Joanne and Ella were making cookies and Elizabeth was able to join in as well. Then Joanne and I took the girls to a pumpkin spot. Bummer it was so windy and cold out yesterday. They had some outdoor things for kids but it was just too cold. We picked out 3 pumpkins and the girls played inside the building. They had a big area roped off with corn down. They took their shoes off and played. Ella didn't like it with her shoes off though. Elizabeth kept saying the corn looked like teeth. Which it does.
After we dropped Joanne back home, the girls and I left for our house. We were hoping to connect with some other single moms I met through my adoption journey with Ella. They were all at an apple orchard and were meeting at one house for pizza after. I thought the girls would be up from their naps by then. Well the pizza party started at 4:30 and Ella woke at 5:00 and Elizabeth woke at 5:30. They had stayed asleep when I brought them in from the car. I was amazed. That was over 3 hours for each of them. I was a little worried we would have issues at bedtime but no problems. I was even asleep by 9. So, it was a great weekend!
Elizabeth was very interested in the kissing events at the wedding. She also asked if this means Joe and Steph will now be living together and why all the kissing. Ella went to a Halloween party with Grandma and got nice gift bags. She even got one for Elizabeth. She was a little scared of the decorations but they let her touch them so she would be more comforatable. She was saying Halloween Mom all day. She and Jerry got along great too. They had a little game where they teased each other about being the Little Monkey. It was pretty cute. Oh and Elizabeth changed her mind at the last minute over which dress she was going to wear. We had decided she was going to wear her Easter Dress from this year which still fit. But, after Grandma and Uncle Jerry left with Ella on Saturday, Elizabeth decided to change to the Pink one she wore for her 3 year old photo. I really didn't think it would still fit but it did and she looked great.
