Its been a busy time again. I had today off to do some organizing of what is supposed to be my office... but got another reprieve. I went to my dad's apartment to see the loaner wheelchair. He gets his in a few weeks. I am glad to see Dad is ok with using a wheelchair. I was worried he wouldn't want to but there are some days his Parkinson's disease makes walking hard, even with the walker. I did run home for lunch and then went to my dentist appointment. Oh the fun I have. :-) From there I went to Rosedale to buy stuff. I bought a new phone. Ella has slowly broken my old cell phone so it was about time. She ripped the antenna out shortly after we got home from China and just a few weeks ago she showed her brute strength by hitting the phone against a wall... it cracked the display. The phone still worked but I wanted a new one. :-) So now I have one with a camera. Whooo Hoooo.
The new phone made points with Elizabeth as well... because of the camera and because its Pink. She has been a trooper with school and is usually pretty good about being picked up second every day. I usually get Ella from Daycare and then Elizabeth from school. The other day Elizabeth asked if she could be first one of these days. So, I got to school about 4 - just in time to watch the Kung Fu class she is in. That was fun. I took a picture with my new phone and she caught on right away that it was new. I haven't figured out how to download those pics yet so no Kung Fu shots. I let Elizabeth hold the camera after class but told her that when Ella is around, the cell phone stays in mom's hands only. I also had the chance to talk with Elizabeth's teacher. Zhou Laoshi is very nice. She told me Elizabeth was sad today on the playground. I guess a couple of the other girls were saying Elizabeth couldn't be their friend. These girls were her best friends earlier this week. So, it has started. I know it hurt Elizabeth's feelings but she has also told these girls they are not her friends anymore too. I am working with Elizabeth to help her realize that everyone is her friend and it was good to find out that Zhou Laoshi is doing the same at school. I remember the fights I had with my friends when I was younger but I didn't think it started until I was 9 or 10. Of course Mary Carol may have a different memory. :-)
From there we went to Daycare to get Ella. I showed Beth (daycare provider) the new phone and her daughter Bri had it figured out in no time. Bri is a sophomore in high school and a great girl. She was taking pictures of the kids and now the main screen is a great shot of my girls. Thanks Bri!!!!
Then I brought the girls to see Dad. Every morning Ella wakes up and says Poppa???? so she was pretty happy to go see her guy. Dad enjoys it when the girls come to see him. The other people at the assisted living place think the girls are pretty cute and Dad enjoys that. He was in the dining room when we got there so he gave Ella a ride up to his apartment on his walker. My phone was almost out of battery power so I didn't get that picture. One day soon I will have to. She loves sitting on that little seat and Dad loves pushing her.
The girls are sleeping peacefully and I am taking advantage of the quiet time.
This last weekend we were at a great Halloween party. Thanks again Holly for a great time. The girls got to enjoy a scavenger hunt as well as cupcake decorating. It was a fun time for us all. The moms were all part of the first travel group when I went to China to bring Elizabeth home. Not everyone could make it but it was wonderful visiting with those that were there and getting caught up. Here are some shots:

The girls also brought their Halloween outfits. The one I bought for Ella is going back to Target because its just a little snug so no pictures of her in her outfit yet. Elizabeth decided weeks ago that she wanted to be Sleeping Beauty. I know its because she wants a blond wig but the one I found at Target didn't have a wig. I will get her one before the real Big DAY though.
I did bring something for Ella to wear - but she didn't want it on. It was a funky leotard that Elizabeth has outgrown. It was pink with a feather edge and a bias cut little leopard skirt. I put it on twice and Ella couldn't take it off fast enough. Then she was running around in her underwear. No pictures of that will be posted on the blog though. She had us all laughing with her dancing though. She found one of the other girls play heels and was dancing pretty good in her underwear and heels. For some reason the other moms think Ella is going to be a handful. I am not sure where they got that idea. :-)
Ever since that party though Ella has been saying Halloween Mom... so she may be getting over her fear of the masks and costumes. In the car tonight Elizabeth was telling Ella all the good things about Halloween - costumes and candy. And I piped in and said, all candy goes to Mom. Elizabeth whispered to Ella that the candy doesn't go to Mom. I laughed so loud. Later we were reading Ella's favorite book Babies and she knows the funny parts. Elizabeth was helping her though by whispering one of the lines "Oh No Not the Honey Babies" Ella leaned in to me on the rocker and whispered it in my ear. So I whispered back... i love you guys... she passed it on to Elizabeth as well. They just make me smile!
A couple of days ago Ella was pretending to wash dishes for me. Elizabeth did the same thing at the same age and I have them both in pictures. I have the one of Elizabeth on my work PC so I'll upload that tomorrow. Here is Ella:
Here is Elizabeth way back when. I see I am letting her do the pots and pans too. I promise I do make sure that the dishes are clean before I put them away.
Last week Ella was again at the sink but she was giving her baby a bath. I tried uploading the movie clip I did with my digital camera but its not loading. Here is a still picture:
On Monday it was my second Chinese class held at Elizabeth's school. Last week Ella didn't handle it well and cried alot with Bridget (After Care provider at Yinghua) This week I never got to the class room. Ella cried anytime I made a move to go away from her. So, we went home. I am going to try learning on my own with the CD and book I bought for the class. I asked Elizabeth if she would be my teacher and she said yes. I asked her if I should call her Elizabeth Laoshi and she said no, just Laoshi. That is the Chinese word for teacher. I told Elizabeth's principal that today and she had a good chuckle. But, Elizabeth is taking this teaching thing seriously. She told me the other day... Mom watch my zwabai when she was telling me a new Chinese word. I am not sure of the spelling but that is the Chinese word for mouth. I think I have opened Pandora's Box! :-)
Today was Picture Day for Elizabeth and for breakfast I let her have a chocolate cupcake. We had two of them so Ella had one too. I decided to do this after they were in their outfits for the day... silly mom. So, here there are with the classic white dish towel tied on them for cover! Elizabeth wanted the picture taken and then said we should send it out.
