All Is Good

Ella is sleeping.

We got here about 12:20 and checked in. She was a trooper. Ella put on the gown, knew when they needed to listen to her tummy and heart and let them take her temp and other measurements. I was asked at least 5 times, when did she eat last, when did she drink last and what time was her last big meal. I told them about the jello, and apple juice until 11 and the late dinner last night. They said Dr Wood was running early so I was not surprised when they told me to put the sterile gown on right away. The procedure was going to start at 2:15 but I walked Ella in to the OR at 1:09. I held her while they put her under. She didn't like that part. Then I got to give her a kiss and leave. Todd and I went to the cafeteria to have lunch. We waited until then so Ella wouldn't be upset. The beeper went off when we were about 3/4 done with our meal. We hurried up and went back up to the waiting room. Shortly after that, Dr Wood came out and told me Ella did great. We made some calls and then were asked to come back to Recovery. Ella was pretty cranky. They gave her multiple doses of morphine and an anxiety medicine and had her on full oxygen for a while. She did calm down but tried many times to get her hands in her mouth. She calmed down enough so we were able to go up to the room (456) about 4:00. We put Mulan in the DVD and then she watched some of Thumbilina. They gave Ella some water in the recovery and then about 4:20, one of the nurses came in with Apple juice. She had a couple of sips and then a little bit of a popsicle. They had left some tylenol for me to give her before 5. She took most of it. She is sore. Her throat hurts her but they are trying to give her scheduled doses of medicine to stay ahead of the bulk of the pain. I am tired but holding up ok. Todd has been a great help. He is sitting with her right now. She was sleeping when I left the room. It looks like she will have the room to herself so that's nice.

Well I am going to go back. But, I wanted to send an update and to thank everyone for their prayers!

Thanks Todd for all you did. Having you there made it so much better for me and for Ella. I really am blessed with good friends. Todd was a huge help and support in the hospital and Reenie was the same at home taking care of Elizabeth. I had many offers from Kevin and his family as well as other friends. We really are blessed.
