Started off with Elizabeth waking up and coming in my room and saying "Don't you know its my birthday" before I even had a chance to say good morning. We then laid in my bed and chatted. At one point Ella woke and came in too. What a nice way to start the day. I gave Elizabeth her presents from me and Ella because they were hiding in my closet waiting to be wrapped. Decided not to wrap them. :-) We gave Elizabeth a Razor scooter and a pink and white soccer ball. She loved them.
We went downstairs, had a little breakfast, cleaned up some and then Grandma Jo called to wish Elizabeth a Happy Birthday. After that I picked up upstairs. We had a party to get ready for.
Went to Target and picked up the cake. It turned out great. They had called in the morning to say the chocolate cake had not arrived and so we changed it to Marble. Then when we picked it up they said they didn't have a blond barbie only an african american and a brunette. They used the brunette. They also took $10 off the cake. It was beautiful with brown or blonde hair. Elizabeth really wanted pink or purple hair but understood when I told her Barbie doesn't come that way.
We ran into two different groups of friends at the store, picked up some groceries for the house and sampled cookies and quiche and then off to home. We had lunch and then rested for a bit. The party started at 1:30 and everyone was on time.
Elizabeth had 11 friends here and I had two friends to help. With other little helpers, we had 14 counting Ella as well. What was I thinking? Luckily the girls were all very well behaved. There was one that kept playing the piano but would stop when we asked and a couple that wanted to play in Elizabeth's room. But, they came outside when we went out there. Thank God the day was nice. It was pouring rain the day before but yesterday was almost in the normal temp range and it was sunny. So, the girls played on the swingset, pulled friends in the wagon, took turns with the roller skates.
Then we went inside and did some crafts. Elizabeth was champing at the bit to open presents so we did that after the crafts and snacks. She got alot of nice things. From knitting needles and yarn (what a great idea!) to arts and crafts and an apron with recipes for kids, yatzhee and High School Musical stuff. She told everyone thanks and pretty soon it was 4 and the moms and dads were coming. Each of the girls got their gift bags.
Two of Elizabeth's friends, Elizabeth and Kiah, were spending the night and they all went to sleep about 10:30. At first all three wanted to sleep on the top bunk but kept bumping into each other. After multiple discussions, Kiah ended up on the top bunk, Elizabeth W in bottom and my Elizabeth in my bed. Kiah also was a little sad and missing her mom. But after she talked to Holly on the phone, she was able to find the courage to spend the night. All the girls have had sleep overs before but mostly at family members... so they did great.
I got a kick out of my Elizabeth all day. She was in her Director mode all day. We had tried doing Musical Chairs at first (which was not a big hit) and Elizabeth was telling the girls how to stand and where to put the chairs. I tried to temper it a little But that is who Elizabeth is and she was polite about it.
Reenie and Cindy came in the late afternoon and we hung out outside. They all helped clean up the party mess and I really appreciate it. Mary and Holly picked up the spilled popcorn and trash and before I knew it, the dishes were washed and the carpet and floors were all cleaned up. Thanks Guys. Holly had to take her nephew home so just the 4 of us big girls sat outside and had adult refreshment with chips and salsa. Nice way to relax. Then Mary and Mikala left. Elizabeth W had been asking her mom when she was going to go. LOL So, Cindy, Reenie and I had a fire in the fire pit and relaxed some more. I made pizza for the girls and after we went inside, we all watched High School Musical. The big girls left and the rest of us were asleep by 10:30. Elizabeth W and Elizabeth K are awake and I think I hear Kiah moving around.
Ella did great yesterday. Her nap was later in the day and she was only a little cranky when she got up. Can't wait to see what time she sleeps to.
Happy Birthday Elizabeth Grace!!!! I can't believe you are 6. Where did my baby go? I love you more each day and thank God you are my daughter!
