Hard to keep up somedays.

We have had some great adventures again but its been busy at night so I wasn't able to find the time to update the blog.

On Friday August 1st Elizabeth, Ella and I got to hang out. Daycare was closed due to an out of town family reunion so I took the day off. In the morning we took the lawn mower in for repair and then brought groceries to Dad's. After lunch we went swimming. It was so fun going to Highland Aquatic Pools. We stayed at the kids pool but it had 3 different areas. There was a lap pool as well as on dedicated to big slides and diving. I didn't bring any life jackets so we stayed in the kid pool which had a depth range of 0 to 2 feet. Poor Ella though. I put sunblock on the girls and somehow Ella rubbed some in her eye. It was painful for her even though I was trying to clean it out best I could. She ended up laying down on the lounge chair and fell asleep. Elizabeth and I played nearby but pretty soon Elizabeth had to go to the bathroom. I think Ella had been asleep for about an hour and we decided there wasn't time to wait for Elizabeth. So, I picked Ella up and off we went to the bathroom. After that we all played in the water. Elizabeth was up and down the kid sized slides more than I could count. Ella tried them once but didn't like the splash. We were there from 1:30 to almost 6. We order pizza for supper that night. Originally we were going to go to Como Park for an outdoor performance of the Wizard of Oz but I made a mom decision not to. We were all just too tired.

Saturday morning the girls had hair appointments so off we went. They just got trims but an added treat as well. One of Elizabeth's friends had a hair extension the last time we saw her and Elizabeth couldn't wait to have one. While she was getting her hair cut I asked what color she wanted. She said Pink... I asked are you sure you don't want Black? The hair stylist started to say they don't have black and I just started laughing. I was teasing Elizabeth. It ended up that both girls got extensions. Elizabeth has pink and Ella picked a light purple. They looked so cute but I didn't get a picture of both of them. I thought I had time. I was wrong. After Ella got up from her nap she said TAKE IT OUT MOM... I tried calming her down but nothing worked. So, I took it out. It was $5 and Elizabeth still has hers in. I'll get a picture of it soon.

We were invited to join our friends Mary, Elizabeth and Mikela at Mary's brother's place for swimming and dinner. So we had another fun day swimming. My Elizabeth was up on the 10 foot slide faster than I could say Be Careful. She also jumped off the diving board for the first time. She started out very tentative but was doing scissor kicks by the end of the day. Mary's Elizabeth was nervous about the slide but was a master by the end of the day. Ella got very comfortable with the water. She had her life jacket on as well as a little blow up tube around her waist and was hanging on to the railing on the steps. But she was very comfortable in the water and felt safe. Glad to see that.

Sunday it was looking like rain so Elizabeth asked if we could go to the Mall of Americ*a so we did. When we were getting out of the car, Ella said, I tired Mom. I had decided to not bring the stroller because it was early in the day and I figured we could chance it. Wrong.... so I rented a double stroller and it was a good day. They even sat in it while I got my hair cut. Actually Ella ended up on my lap but Elizabeth was in charge of the stroller. We got home early afternoon and I tried to get the girls to nap. I wasn't successful but it was a nice day. Later that afternoon my sister in law Pam called and came over with Grace and Madeline. It was nice to have the girls all playing together for one more time. They left back for Florida yesterday.

This week Elizabeth has been in a morning only Gymnastics camp and she is wiped out. She fell asleep on the couch and I am doing wash while updating the blog. Ella is watching Mary Poppins but I think she will be nodding off soon too.

Have a great week everyone. Don't forget to tune in to the opening ceremony on Friday for the Olympics... its in Beijing and the girls and I will be watching. I thought about having a get together but didn't get a chance to set it up. It will be nice to watch with the girls though. They love seeing anything about China!

Its really hard to get 4 girls to sit still while all swinging on one swing:

Pictures from Sunday. The girls knew we weren't going on rides but we found one of the 75 cent rides and they loved it. We also had to play at Lego Land which was fun too:

My budding model. Elizabeth did the poses all on her own. Cute girl with cute hair extension:

I can't wait for the Olympics! We bought all the stuffed olympic buddies when we were in China and they are all sitting on our couch ready to watch it!
I've enjoyed catching up with your precious girls. They seem to enjoy one another so much. I know you are so very thankful for them! Ella seems to have adjusted beautifully!
