Monday I took Elizabeth to the dentist because she had a bump on her gum that wasn't going away. The diagnosis was an abscessed tooth and they would need to pull it out.
Elizabeth did great today. She started all excited and wondered if the dentist would let her pick toys (they did). They put the mask on for happy gas and started numbing the gum after they put in the movie. She got really scared when they gave her the Novocaine. She said, "Mom I don't want to do this anymore" At that point I stood up and held her hand and patted her belly. She did calm down and they let the "sleepy stuff" do its work. When her lip was good and numb they pulled that sucker out. Man the roots were long. No wonder it hadn't gotten loose. It was hard when Elizabeth was clearly so distressed. I explained again that they had to do it so her big tooth would be healthy. When it was all done, she wanted me to hold her and I was very happy to do that. As I told Elizabeth, I was so proud of her. I understood her being scared but was so proud that she could work through the fear. We cuddled for a bit and then off we went.
Since she was doing well we stopped at one of our favorite stores so Elizabeth could get a present. She had been earning points for good behavior and she reached the pinnacle of success earlier this week. So, I let her pick out something at Pantina. The next reward is a movie of her choice with just Mom. She thought that was a nice one too. Cross your fingers its not Hannah Montanna.

Great job Elizabeth!!!
Elizabeth, We're all proud of you for being so brave. I'm sure the Tooth Fairy will be good to you. Please give your mom a hug for me--she's had a stressful day!
Greta.
