Doctor Day :-)

Today was Ella's 6 month Cleft Team checkup. Elizabeth, Ella and I got there 5 minutes to spare. The morning was going great but then Elizabeth got a gushing bloody nose while we were on my bed. She got knocked by Ella's hard head. After cleaning Elizabeth up and changing her clothes we were able to have breakfast and leave pretty much on time.

Starting at 8 was Speech Assessment. Ella is used to this test. She asked for the computer right away. They use a nasometer to measure the air coming out her mouth and nose while talking into a sensor. She is at the same rate she was last checkup and they think this is a good balance. Ella then moved to the floor to play with the bounty of toys. The Therapist got on the floor with her and said that Ella's speech has improved more. She is right on track. Her R sounds are still tough as is the ch sound but that is also age appropriate. Good news.

Then we saw Dr Wood at 9. He got Ella to talk to him this time. That's a first. Last time he asked her to count for him and she said one two and wouldn't say more. This time she counted to Five I think. :-) From the test results and talking to me and Ella he feels she is doing great the the P-Flap is all healed. We also get to come back once a year instead of every six months. And no more cleft surgeries for now. Great news!

The last visit was with Dr Cerman. She is the pediatric dentist and they made a mold of Ella's upper jaw. She will be fitted with an extender to help her jaw grow forward. This will help her speech and teeth positioning. They call it a butterfly and Ella picked purple with sparkles.

I had promised Elizabeth we would do the air hockey game and I am really glad we did instead of leaving right away. While we were playing, here came Michelle and Mia. Mia goes to Dr Wood too. It was great seeing you guys. Mia looks wonderful Michelle!

Well we are off to the Well Child Care visits for both girls and then gymnastics for Ella. Good thing we all took naps after lunch.

Update:
Both girls are healthy. No shots... :-) Ella was scheduled for her second Chicken Pox or she could have it next year with the DPT/Polio. Her doctor left that decision to Ella and she decided to wait. LOL

Last year Ella was 33.8 lbs and 37 1/2 inches. This year she is 38 lbs and 40 inches.

Elizabeth was 32 lbs at her last check up (5 years old - she didn't get weighed last year for some reason) and 39 inches. Today she measured at 42.2 lbs and 44 inches.

So fun to see you and the girls yesterday, what a great surprise! Elizabeth and Ella are as cute as ever. It was fun to chat as well...I apologize if I ran my mouth off which is something I do when I get ahold of an adult during my days full of kids talk. :)
