The girls went to sleep by 8pm. I woke at 5 to get the last of the paperwork ready for Elizabeth's school. She came down at 5:45 with a tummy ache. Thankfully it was because she was hungry. She also said she was alot nervous but she ate 1 and a half waffles, so that was good. Then we went up and got ready and Elizabeth was silly. Not sure if that was just a good mood or nerves or both. Probably both. She got all ready and Ella woke up without being crabby and got ready pretty fast. The drive to school took a little longer than I thought but the drop off went smooth. Elizabeth was smiling and ready to go. Whew! Tomorrow we will leave the house a little earlier to have extra time. Today Ella and I are meeting with her teacher at her school so we came straight home. I am working from home today. After our morning meeting I'll bring Ella to daycare and head back home for work. More updates and pictures later.
Midday Update
Ella and I had a nice meeting with her new teacher. Ella got to play with one of the assistants while Ms Meranda and I visited. Ella also made a treasure box for the paperwork/projects/books that she will be bringing home during the school year. We also checked on her bus and chatted more with her new speech therapist. Everything is all set for Thursday. And Ella seemed more upbeat about her new school today so I am more hopeful that Thursday will not be so hard on her.
Random Thought - I just realized today was my Mom's Birthday. In the rush of First Day Jitters it slipped my mind. That is a first. My mom would have been 77 years old today. Happy Birthday Mom. In my mind and heart you still look like the Mom I knew and its hard to imagine what you would look like today. My Mom was just a few weeks shy of her 36th birthday when she passed away in 1968. Thanks for watching out for my girls Mom!
Evening Update:
Elizabeth had a wonderful day. She heard me in the hall and ran out and gave me a huge hug. Love those moments. Then we went to visit Dad at the Nursing Home. We didn't stay very long... and the ride home was full of silly girls saying silly knock knock jokes with questionable punch lines... but it was super funny. Now they are taking a bath and then bed.
