Lessons in Helping

Yesterday we helped a friend with a fundraiser. Her ex husband and the father of her two kids is really sick. He is in NC waiting for a double lung transplant. She really wanted to do something to help and the fundraiser was born. When she asked for help, the whole crew stepped right up. This is the same group that helped when Denise's son needed servers for his wedding to keep costs down. I love this group of friends and I don't get alot of time with them right now. I know that will change as my kids get bigger so I was happy to be able to spend time with them yesterday. The added bonus was my girls came along and learned the value of helping. I lost track of the times Elizabeth ran to get buns for us for the BBQ pork we were serving or the number of big bags of chips. She didn't want to go initially and thought she would be bored. I think she had even more fun than I did. Ella helped too as well as charmed alot of people. She had Frank wrapped around her finger and was helping him alot. Thanks Frank for helping me by keeping Ella occupied!

Here is some of the crew from November 2008

Elizabeth also had the hard lesson of not winning yesterday. There was a Silent Auction and raffle prizes. Elizabeth saw the Zhu Zhu Pets basket and that was it! Ella didn't really see anything she wanted but I bought them both $10 each of tickets. Elizabeth put the bulk of them in for the Zhu Zhu Pet and then we split Ella's among a few other things. There was a HUGE salted nut roll that Elizabeth thought I would like and so we put a few in there. We also bid on some of the auction items but we didn't win anything. Elizabeth was upset at first that she didn't get the Zhu Zhu pet but understood and rallied. Ella was a hoot... she was telling all our friends that the little boy over there has My Sister's Pet. :-) Thanks for defended her Ella and showing great empathy.

When the prizes were done, so were we. The event officially ended at 8 but there were still a bunch of people there. It was 8:20 I think when we got home Tami, I would call the Fund Raiser a great success and you are a great example to your kids as well as mine! Thank you for letting us help.

P.S.
The girls slept with me last night and when I got up to come downstairs I turned the tv on low to Disney. I have been hearing Ella enjoy it and now I just heard her run to the bathroom and say "Good Morning Bathroom" :-) I think Elizabeth is still sleeping.
