Its been a big week so far

Yesterday Elizabeth turned 8 years old.

She also lost her 4th tooth during English class yesterday.

And she got her DSi. She had been saving for it and the Birthday and First Communion money put her way over the top.

I was going to make up the difference if she hadn't saved enough because we made a deal. I was able to talk Elizabeth into not having a Friend Birthday Party this year. Because of that, I would make up the difference for a DSi. And really, she had a big party Sunday with First Communion and Family Birthday. But, it turns out I didn't have to put in a dime. Elizabeth had enough saved for the DSi, two games, corresponding storage unit/bag, and enough left over for some Barbie purchases. We did have a discussion about saving some instead of spending it all right now but Elizabeth was not into that. She said that saving was the fun part and she would start saving again.

First, I hope that she continues to develop the skill of saving (her mom is a late learner on that). Second, I think she had more fun spending then Elizabeth admits to. I totally get that. :-)

But, the other good thing is Elizabeth has passed down her Leapster to her sister since she won't need it now that she has the DSi.

Ella got a Leapster from Santa but it broke last week. I was surprised because these are sturdy toys. But it was dropped a couple of times and the final straw was the sugar from some dipping candy that Ella was eating the same time as playing with her Leapster. I thought I had cleaned it up, but the poor machine would not work anymore.

This morning the Tooth Fairy had to hurry up and switch the tooth for the money... whew... almost was too late. And the DSi is charging up for use after Gymnastics.

Life is good.

P.S. Ella also spent her birthday money and has a new game for her Leapster along with musical instruments with a Disney theme. We have a horn, drum, guitar and another noise making toy. But I want to know why its OK for them to sing and make noise in the car but I get told to stop singing when their songs are on? I can't believe they don't like my voice. :-)

P.P.S I am going to order a gift for Elizabeth and talk to the girls about giving up some of the toys they no longer play with for a friends upcoming fundraiser / garage sale.

UPDATE 5/07/10 - Last night at Gymnastics Elizabeth lost another tooth. That is 5 in total. One was pulled by the dentist, Two fell out at the old Yinghua building, One at the new Yinghua building and One at Gymnastics. Does this mean when its Ella's time that she will lose hers in the house?
