Changes

Poor Elizabeth.  She has been so excited to start a new camp/day care program.  But when today came, she was nervous.  She had a hard time falling asleep last night and ended up in my room.  This morning she had breakfast with me and said she was scared.  My heart didn't clench like it has in the past when she does new things.  I guess Mom is figuring out her big girl can handle these changes.  This morning I empathized and told Elizabeth that I am sure its scary but to remember how easy she makes friends and that she will have many fun things to do.  Today they are going to a local pool with a fun kid area.  On the walk in to the building I reminded her that her friend Sydney was going to be there too.  That helped a little bit.  But, as Alissa told her, just be yourself and you will be fine.  I can't wait to hear all about her day when I pick her up.  It did bring up memories for Elizabeth though.  She said she was nervous but not like when she went to Kindergarten.  She told me she cried in Before Care.  "The tables were so big Mom, they were as high as my eyes".  I would have cried too.  But, the people that work at this program were very friendly and welcomed Elizabeth right in.  I know she will do great and I can't wait to find out everything!

Lucky Ella gets to go with Alissa to her work today.  Day care is closed because their daughter is going to the college orientation and they are going with.  I am sure Bri will do great.  Thankfully Alissa was able to watch Ella. But, due to a scheduling snafu, Alissa was scheduled for work.  Her boss said it was ok to bring Ella though.  Alissa works at a summer program for preschoolers and kindergartners this summer.  PERFECT.  Ella will have a ball.  I am lucky for such a wonderful niece and I am glad she is home from college this summer.

I hope both girls like the lunches I made for them and that they make great friends and have a wonderful day.  Changes can be tough but I am sure they will rock the house today.

Here is a picture of Elizabeth from this weekend.  She had a blast at her friend's house swimming. I stole the picture from MG's Mom's Facebook page.  ;-)

Update 6/22/10.  Ella had a blast and no nap.  She told Alissa multiple times yesterday, "Alissa I am having fun!" Alissa called be at 6:10 to let me know they were on the way home.  Guess what Ella was doing?  Sleeping. LOL  but, she was in a great mood when they got home so I think she really loved spending the day with Alissa.

Elizabeth had a blast.  They made bracelets, played in the gym, had lunch, went swimming (I had to stay in the little kids pool MOM) and almost finished reading her book.  She was very happy to see me and we stopped on the way home for a treat.  She didn't care for the lunch I made so I changed it up today to be the way she likes it.  I had put veggie cream cheese on the sliced meat and wrapped a pickle inside.  She didn't care for it at all.  So today its meat by itself and pickles by themselves and chips and fruit and a chewy bar.

Alissa joined us for dinner and Elizabeth was asleep by 8:30.  Ella took a bath and was asleep by 9.  Time to go get them up now though.  Have a great day.
