Last night when I gave Ella a kiss goodnight I found I had a tiny cut on my lip. I told her I was sorry and all was good. But then she said "Maybe you are getting a cleft lip too Momma" I just smiled and kissed her lip again.
Ella, I love your cleft lip and your beautiful smile. I hope you always remember that.

You helped to put that beautiful smile there on Ella's face. Through skilled medical care and a mother's love the cleft lips and palates have healed for both our girls. We are lucky...Greta.

Shea has been asking a lot of questions about her cleft lip/palate lately....
She wants to know why she was born with one and not any of us....
I tell her I don't know....
One day she said...that's okay Momma...it just makes me more specialer...
