On the spur of the moment Friday night we joined friends at the Highland Fest. It was so spur of the moment that I did not bring my camera. But, we have lots of memories.
Rides that were pretty L - A - M -E as decided by me and Elizabeth. The only one that was fun was the Scrambler. Both girls were laughing and screaming the whole time and then said their tummys were turning when they got off... so I guess that one wasn't so bad. There were many many carny booths and actually said no most times. I was going to let them do the crane thing but then saw it was mostly filled with lighters and some of them had naked women on them. I am going to contact the festival organizers on that one.... And I told the girls I would not spend our money on something that showed naked people. I don't know if they understood but the guy behind the counter heard me. We did find a nice spot though... and Elizabeth won a cute necklace and Ella a nice sized stuffed toy. Poor Elizabeth got bit by a bee there though. I think that was her first one ever so we watched carefully. As the mosquitoes came out we decided it was time to leave. We all had fun even with the carny stuff and had great food. The girls had walleye on a stick and loved it! I had a couple of beers and got to hang out with my friends and I loved that.
Saturday was going to be the day I cleaned this house... it really needs it. I started on the kitchen and picked up some and then we got a phone call. "We have extra tickets to the Lynx, want to go see some basketball with us?" Sorry poor house, we had some fun to be had. We met Mary, Elizabeth and Mikaela at the Target Center and LOVED the game. The Lynx did great and almost won. It really was a great game. Every time the Lynx scored, the girls all cheered. They really cheered when Lyndsay scored... she is Elizabeth and Mikaela's cousin so all 4 girls were excited. But, Ella was tired when we got there... at half time we were going to get more treats but Ella wanted to be held and fell asleep in my arms. So, I gave Elizabeth some money and she went with Mary and her girls and I brought Ella down to our seats. She slept the whole time during the 3rd and 4th quarters and was still a little cranky on the walk to our car. With the way the weather came in , I was glad we parked where there was sky way access!
Today I did a little more cleaning but we all did alot of laying around and watching tv. I love lazy days... I am really glad and thankful that our air conditioners are keeping up with all the heat.
Oh... and last night the two girls slept on their air mattresses in the living room all night... a miny sleepover. :-)
I took this picture this morning, a day and half after the festival. Yesterday Ella's eye and bridge of her nose really puffed up from the bites. I had to give her some benadryl because she was really freaking out. She kept asking what's happening to me and Am I going to die ? The benadryl really helped and today she doesn't have any itchy feelings. We can't wait for the swelling to go down.

Oh dear Ella - those eye bites can be nasty. Glad you had a good weekend.
