Elizabeth and her teacher. This is from the Back to School Night last week.
Elizabeth did great. She wasn't too tired this morning and even let me take a couple of pictures at home. I'll post them tomorrow as I am heading to bed soon myself. I did bring a fan for the classroom and Elizabeth tells me they used it. There were two other fans in the room so I hope that created some air movement.
Elizabeth was a little growly on the way home. I have to remember to hold my questions until she has a little time to settle in to the change. But once she calmed down and she was able to finish the homework, life was good again. We had an easy supper, goofed around being silly and read books. No TV for now on school nights.
The bummer is its still hot. The 3 window units are not cutting the grade this heat wave. It was 80 in the house when we got home. So we have closed off the door to Elizabeth's room and the three of us are bunking in my room. Which is ok for Ella. She is struggling with the changes coming up. She seems fine with school starting but it not so fine with being done with day care. So she is a little clingy and chatty. All normal for Ella in processing.
Elizabeth is asleep and Ella is still trying to get comfy.
Soon the heat will break and we will be in the school groove.
Oh yes... I did cry a little on the way to work after dropping Elizabeth off. I can't believe it but I did. I am very proud of Elizabeth but each year goes by so fast.
We also had a nice ending to our day at school. On our way out tonight we were walking with Betsy, the Administrator. She told me that Ella made her summer. Last week at Back to School night Betsy was hugging Elizabeth and our friend Elizabeth (also in 3rd grade) and Ella came up and told Betsy this was the best place ever and she missed Betsy. :-) Betsy told Ella tonight that she made her heart sing. Very nice.
Here's to a good year for everyone.
First day of school. Elizabeth had twisted her ankle so that is part of the attitude. I did tell her the picture would be part of her Forever Book and then I got a better face from her.
