Last Friday the girls classes each put on end of the year performances in their class rooms. It was so much fun and it was really nice to share this with Grandma Jo again! Thank you Joanne for spending the day with me. I really enjoyed it.
Elizabeth's class did small group presentations and then a song at the end. The song was amazing and I wish I had better luck uploading videos to this site.
Each group created, crafted and set up a game. The key part was the game was all in Chinese and they could only use Chinese and hand gestures to explain it to us. And we could not use English to ask questions. We had to use Chinese or hand gestures. Elizabeth's group did have great instructions written in English but it was still very interesting to try and move around. I loved Elizabeth's game and I appreciate more how they must have felt when they first started at school. Everything was in Chinese, no English was spoken by their teachers ever so asking for things those first few weeks must have been very hard.
Great Job Elizabeth!
Joanne and I then had some time to spend together as Elizabeth's performance was in the morning and Ella's in the afternoon. So we went to lunch and had a great time.
Ella's class did presentations and a play as well as singing and dancing. It was so cute. The presentations were read by each child in Chinese with a sample of their art work to show us. Then they all got into position to do a play about flowers, butterflies and weather. Ella was a red Rose. She was great. She also gave all her friends thumbs up when they did their performance. Then the music changed and the teacher told the kids (in Chinese) to go get their parents and grandparents. We all came into the center of the room and danced with the kids. That was really fun. I can tell Ella has loved it at her school and has made many good friends. They were all so cute and fun to watch.
After her performance I had a meeting with the speech team at school to discuss Ella's IEP for next year. All is great... she is now at 90% intelligibility. When Ella started speech therapy 3 years ago, she was rated at 50% (I never agreed with that one) so you can see the hard work that Ella has put in. Way to go Ella! I am proud of you.
I really enjoy going to these performances and LOVE watching my daughters and seeing their confidence grow. I love you Elizabeth and Ella and am very proud of you.

What a great program, especially Elizabeth’s where it puts you in a position to understand what the kids were going through at Day one of K!
That’s awesome about Ella’s speech! I wanted to mention that I noticed it when we were over at your house, she was completely understandable and confident. She continues to be a lovely little lady, just like Elizabeth.
