Back to School / Meet your Teacher night

We were touch and go wondering if we would get to school before 6 pm. The Meet Your Teacher event was scheduled for 4 - 6 pm. (I had tried to get that extended but was not successful.)  So, with my work hours, traffic problems due to Light Rail Construction and Hwy 94 repair add the First Day of the State Fair!  But we got to school at 5:45 - whew and rushed to meet teachers and see lockers. 

Poor Ella - she was a mixture of scared and sad.   Her favorite teacher was her Kindergarten teacher and unfortunately,  Fang LaoShi is moving to a new school this year.  Ella started sobbing when she saw her 1st grade teacher so we moved quickly to Elizabeth's 4th grade teacher.  Elizabeth got to see her room and locker and chat a little with her teacher.  Then we went back down to Ella's room.  She was doing better after getting sympathy from all of us plus the other teachers.  She also ended up giving her new teacher a hug.  On the way to the playground for the potluck with other families (that part went until 8) Ella thought 1st Grade may end up being fun.

My hope and prayer is that both girls enjoy themselves at school and continue to grow into great young ladies.  I am watchful with Elizabeth's class as there is drama all the time - way more than there should be.  But Elizabeth and I have a team approach going so we will be on top of any bullying.  I think Ella will be fine once school starts and who knows, maybe we can schedule a "playdate" with her old teacher.
