Mom can we talk about ....
Ella usually asks that question at least once when it is just her and I in the van.
Last night some of the questions required a look up on the Internet
"What do the 5 stars on the Chinese flag mean."
"Why does Japan get tsunamis."
"What does the Australian flag look like."
"Who named the days of the week."
All I have to say is I am thankful for the Internet.
Ella also said she was weird and didn't want to be. So I asked how she felt she was weird? "I don't like candy except chocolate. I get up early and don't sleep in.". So we had a nice discussion about how that was ok and that it didn't make her weird. I also told her as she got older she would be sleeping in more. To be honest, I was expecting her to say her cleft made her feel different but I am sure she will ask if we can talk about how she feels different again soon.
The van continues to be where alot of these discussions take place with both girls. Lately the girls have wanted to talk about Heaven,Purgatory and Hell. They have also asked about the Devil and how you get to each of these places. Interesting stuff. Oh another thing Ella says alot is that she is sorry for me that my Mom died and this week she said when she is 8 she will pray for me because that was how old I was when my Mom died. Thanks Ella. Love you too Sweetie.
On an unrelated note - both of my girls have gotten at least one golden ticket at school. The new principal started a new program at the beginning of the school year which was to acknowledge outstanding acts and behavior. Ella got her first one a week or so ago. Elizabeth said she didn't care about the tickets but then yesterday she got one and was very proud. Ella asked why since she said before that she didn't care before. So we talked about how sometimes it is easier to act like something isn't important when it really is. That shows one of the ways my girls are different. Elizabeth holds things in and Ella wears her heart on her sleeve. But I am liking this program and hope it makes all the kids at school to continue to strive for good deeds and excellent work. I also have a meeting soon to talk to the new principal to talk about the issues my girls had with different things there and I am looking forward to getting to know Mrs. Berg better.
