Our old daycare was our first choice for summer care this year. The bummer was Beth only had limited openings. This week was one of them. The girls were very happy to be able to play with all their old friends and not have to do Chinese homework. :-) Ella really dislikes it at the summer daycare. At first I thought it was just because of the homework but it is also because of the end of the summer performance. The kids are all doing a dance and singing songs. My kids have done this many times at school. In the last year or so Elizabeth has been the nervous one. Now Ella is starting to get nerves. She is really worried that everyone watching will laugh at her. I told her if she doesn't want to do the dance or sing the songs, to just come and sit by me. There are some times where I'll push the girls to do these sorts of things but this time I felt it was ok to relax. Ella has been working hard on her anxiety levels related to the bullying she received last year at school and I figured it was worth it to let her just chill. Of course she probably will rock the dance because she made a promise to her teacher. I will follow Ella's lead on this.
Yesterday when I picked up the girls at Beth's they were all smiles and didn't want to leave. I figure that is a sign of a great place. We have been blessed to have Beth be a part of our lives and I am so glad we are friends. Yesterday, their dog chewed Ella's sandals a bit. The sparkle jewels on the sandals attracted Indigo. The other daycare kids know to put their shoes in cubbies but mine didn't know that. They do now. :-) Beth tried gluing the "bling" back on but its ok. I like that Indigo likes the bling too.
Ella had a great idea though. She is going to ask for it for Christmas. Bottles and Bottles of Invisibility spray. Put it on the shoes so Indigo doesn't see them. Then Uninvisibility spray when it is time to put them back on again. We did try to explain that visibility is the opposite of invisibility but Ella likes her word better... uninvisibility.
I hope the girls appreciate the benefits from the chinese daycare when they get back to school in 4 weeks. They will be all caught up and ready to go on Day 1.
Next year our first choice for care will be Beth's but I am also going to see if I can find an affordable college age girl or boy to watch the girls a few days at home. Pretty soon Elizabeth will be old enough to stay at home alone. So I need to continue to work on those skills for the both of us so we are both ready. :-)
