Van conversations

Today on the way to school Ella and I had a chat.

Elizabeth was reading her book which was a great idea that she thought of on her own.  Elizabeth read for 20 minutes.  Hoping that means she is turning a corner and starting to like to read for fun.

Any hoo

I looked in the mirror and Ella was looking a little out of sorts so I was trying to get some info about her feelings:

Ella, are you ok?

Yes - just looking out the window

Well you look like maybe something is on your mind?

No, i am ok.

Well you can tell me anything, if you are sad, mad worried because I care about you.

Ok Mom.

What is going to happen today at school Ella?

Mondays are always a complete mystery but after recess we do have story time and I love that.

That's good.  Is that chinese story or a story you tell like in circle time?

It is chinese story Mom.  In circle time we tell what we did.   I'll tell them I drew pictures

You also had swim class and helped me put your room back together with curtains and you guys washed the van yesterday and did an awesome job.

I hope Ella tells me later what really is on her mind.  She still looked distracted when we got to school.  She did wake in the middle of the night and came to sleep with me.  She said she wasn't feeling well.  But this morning she said she had a really bad dream - that no one cared about her.  I think she also had a hard time falling asleep last night.  Elizabeth has a cold so I made her go to bed at 7:30 and Ella too.  Elizabeth fell right asleep but Ella was still awake at 8.

I wouldn't normally put this down on the blog but I worry about the bullying aspect and want to make sure I remember to keep checking.
