In this picture, they were just getting ready to leave. Zhen has a bag of ice that he is holding. He is all better now.
We had been hearing of a bad storm coming in. I was trying to ignore it and was also worried we wouldn't be able to go home when planned. The storm even had a name.... Luna. When did they start naming winter storms? Anyway Saturday night we had a private dinner with the gymnastics families and Elizabeth got to swim some more. Ella was wiped out from her swimming during the day so we just relaxed with the other non swimmers. Then Sunday morning I checked the weather. They were saying not to travel if you really didn't need to. I was still planning on leaving after the meet though. Ella had an event on Monday and I really didn't want to miss hers. So we checked out and went to breakfast and gassed up the van and got munchies for the road trip. Then we headed to the meet.
Elizabeth did great. Her scores were in line with what she had done before and her highest score was 8.3 on the balance beam. Elizabeth is making improvements and getting better ever meet. I am very proud of her hard work.
During the meet the families were all talking about if they were staying an extra night or not. I was still sticking with my plan to leave. About 3 other families were as well. About that many stayed over an extra night too. Then it was time for the awards. It was one of those events where they had a lot of categories and the awards took almost an hour. It was worth the wait. Elizabeth got her first medal. She was 12th place in All Around in her age group (out of 13). She had an all around score of 30.675.
As soon as the awards were done, we left Wisconsin Dells. It was a nerve wracking ride but we got home by 9 pm, just 5 hours later. We had one stop on the way but did ok. The girls watched two movies and I watched the road. I think there were 7 vehicles in the ditch along the way. I am thankful we did ok and I stayed slower.
I had Monday off as well and was going to use it originally as a day for me to do stuff at home and to relax. But, all good plans can change. Last week we got a note that Ella's class was going to do a performance at Target Corporate Headquarters. They were looking for parents to help so I signed up. Ella has been such a great trooper in going to her sister's meets without complaint and it was so nice to be able to help Ella in one of her events. It was so fun to see the kids do their song/dance and the group at Target seemed to enjoy them too. I am also thankful to my friends at Target that came and watched. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day! Thank you Mark, John, Kirsten and Michelle. It was so nice seeing you all.
Here is Ella in her class with her outfit on. What a pretty girl. I took the pictures with my cell phone camera and I just can't get the direction to stick. Sorry you have to tilt your head.
This is also in the classroom doing a practice run before we got on the bus.
Sorry for the direction... This is on the bus. Ella wanted to be by me the whole time. She has waited for me to be able to help out at school and was so happy I could be there. She was looking around for me if she wasn't standing next to me. Loved being there and am really glad I had the time.
Here is part of the group singing for the first group. They did their routine at 12 and 12:30 and then went back to school In between Target also fed us a really nice lunch.
After we got back to school, we helped the kids get back into their uniforms and they finished school. I went to Target (LOL) and did a quick shopping trip. I think had about an hour and read my book. Then I picked up the girls. Elizabeth also had to pick up her Girl Scout cookies so we are all set for selling. Then I found out that there wasn't going to be a gymnastics practice Monday. Yippee so we went home and had supper at home. Then we went to Ella's figure skating class. She really loved having me there but loved having her big sister there more. It was great for Ella to be the one we were watching and she really loved it! Elizabeth was a supportive sister as well. Great job girls!
