Ella had a nightmare again last night. It was about one of her worries and we talked about it. She sometimes doesn't want to tell me because she thinks its babyish to talk about bad dreams and worries. I told her that she can always tell me because that's my job. I also told her I told my dad my worries and concerns all the time - all the way up to right before he died. I miss that and told her he was a huge help to me and that sometimes he made suggestions without me asking for anything because that is what good parents do. My example to her was when Dad told me sometimes I am too hard on the girls. He was probably right. :-)
Anyway, after that we walked into the building where Ella is taking summer sessions. This week she is in a session called Girls Just Want to Have Fun. We were early today and waiting for the people to show up. Her teacher came in and sat by us and chatted. She listened to Ella's worry about a fire and went on to tell me that my daughter is talented. I guess Ella got to meet this woman's daughter yesterday and found out the daughter is adopted from Korea. The woman's son is also adopted and his birth parents were Taiwanese and English. And her husband was also adopted from Korea and was one of the first. This lady is Caucasian. Anyway, she told Ella she is the only one in her family not adopted and that her daughter said that's ok, we love you anyway. :-) She also told Ella she talks to her friends and mother in law about her worries and it was wonderful for Ella to hear the same message with new parts from another person other than Mom.
Thank you teacher (sorry I don't remember her name) for being the exact person we needed to cross paths with today. I can't wait to hear how Ella's morning went when I go pick her up later today.
