Yesterday the girls and I made a day trip to Marshall to visit with a couple of my Mom's sisters. I wish we could have seen all the family in town but there just wasn't enough time. We left for the gas station about 8:40. I asked the girls to go in and get me a diet pop and a treat while I was getting the gas. Elizabeth said how about those tornado snacks. I said what? You know Mom, the ones that look like mini tornados... it took a second and then I said you mean Bugles... yes... so that is what I got. MMM Good. :-)
I have been missing my mom lately so it was good to hang out with 3 of her 4 sisters. Sorry we didn't get a chance to see Aunt Judy too. But, I got to spend time with my Aunt Chink, Aunt Joanne and Aunt Joyce. Both Chink and Joyce have big medical events happening soon so it did me good to see them. MyAunt Chink is moving to an assisted living apartment soon due to her memory care issues. And Aunt Joyce is scheduled for biopsy procedure today. We are praying all works out for the best for both of them.
Grandma Jo came to Marshall to spend time with her sisters and that helped me decide to go for the day on Sunday. Both of my girls feel the strength of the family and Ella and Chink have developed a sweet relationship. While at Joyce's she gave the girls worry stones and rosaries that were my Grandma Julias - so we felt the love from many generations. We also got to see Lynn (the twin) and a couple of her kids. They were at Joyce's and had been in Marshall for the weekend.
Joyce is only about 11 years older than me so we have been close for a long time. She was still living at home with Grandma and Grandpa when Mom died and I remember doing many things with my Auntie Joyce. You have many people behind you loving on you and praying for you Joyce. I only wish I had thought to take pictures when we were at your place.
Love my aunts - Chink, Judy, Joanne and Joyce. They help me to feel closer to my mom and have helped me in so many ways. I hope we can make it back to visit them all again in the fall.
The girls did great on the quick trip - 6 hours round trip. And I thought it was interesting they decided to sit in the last row of seats in the van instead of their captain's chairs right behind me. But that worked out great as they had room for their pillows and were able to charge their kindles as needed and I could use the radio up front for what I wanted.
