My Kids Don't Like My Cooking

I have been trying new meal ideas at home and so far, not so good. I thought they tasted good and Ella sort of liked them but Elizabeth, no way. Wednesday I made Calzones with pizza dough, ham, cheese and tomato. Elizabeth helped make them even but she didn't like the taste. Last night I made mini meatloaves and I thought they were very good. Ella was again luke warm and Elizabeth took one bite and no more. She then said her favorite was Chinese food and McDonalds Playland. LOL You would think I could do better than that. I am going to try some chicken based meals next. I am trying to cut back on expenses so we can get a new car next year. It would also be nice to get a dishwasher. But, if we end up eating out all the time, who needs a dishwasher. Any ideas for great tasting meals that kids like would be greatly received!

Today the 1st graders at Elizabeth's school have been invited to perform at the Confucius Institute at the U of M. I got to hear the songs last night. Elizabeth sounded great. I wish I could go but I needed time during the day to take Ella to her preop appointment. Yup, she needs tubes in her ears again. Monday morning we are going back for that. Yesterday Ella and I visited her new school though. She will be going to EXPO two times a week for speech therapy from 8 to 10:30. I am very excited and she should be making great progress. Ella was very excited and enjoyed her time in the class room and got to pick out her locker. We stopped and got her the cutest backpack. I'll be able to get her on the bus in the morning and then the bus will bring her back to daycare when its done. I hope this works out for Ella because it will save me some vacation time. Currently I take two hours every Monday for her current speech appointments. I'll take pictures on Tuesday of Ella getting on the bus and then will probably cry all the way to work... my baby is growing up.

I'm a big fan of Ra.chel Ray's 30 min meals... They're tasty, not THAT fattening and get done in a cinch. I've mastered a couple of her recipes and they're crowd pleasers every time.

Also, there's a book called D.esperation Di.nners. Also pretty good recipes, easy and fast, but most important, TASTY.

Good luck!

Joan I really like the recipes on creatingpostitnotes.blogspot.com

Might be worth a try. Tess is also very picky so usually when I ended making a main dish she will only end up eating the rice and noodles. It seems so not worth it for me.

When Tess was with Elizabeth the babysitter, they were coloring in a Dora book and Dora was holding a box. Elizabeth asked Tess what might be in the box and Tess said "Chicken McNuggets" Oy!
