Combined Doctors Appointments

Last week the girls had their well child care visits and Elizabeth had her first appointment with an orthodontist.  We had lunch and then off to Elizabeth's appointment.  Her mouth is too small for her adult teeth and you can see the overlap.  Right now her upper teeth aren't in yet so we are waiting on those.  But, her lower jaw is crowded.  She is going to have two baby teeth pulled to see if that will make her adult teeth move into better position.  That news made her very nervous.  Elizabeth had her upper tooth pulled when she was 5 and it was very stressful for her.  So, I will talk to the dentist to set it up so she is completely out when they do the bottom two.   It will be a few years until braces, but she will need them.  Guess I better get a braces fund going.

After a little break at home the girls and I went to their pediatrician.

They were very brave.  Both girls have wax in their ears and had to have it washed out.  Yuck.

Ella needed shots and she hated that.  Earlier in the day she was trying to talk herself into believing the shots weren't going to be too bad, but after the wax procedure she was not having it.

Elizabeth had her hearing test twice.  The first time she was low on the left low sounds.  After her wax was cleaned out, her hearing test was all normal.  So was Ella's

Elizabeth is now 47.6 lbs (last year she was 42.2) and 46.5 inches (last year was 44).  She is in the 9th percentile for weight and 3rd for height.  She continues to eat well, exercise and does fine so she is just going to be petite.

Ella is now 44 lbs (last year she was 38) and 42.5 inches (last year she was 40 inches).  She is in in the 66th percentile for weight and 32nd percentile for height.

I really thought that Ella would be bigger than Elizabeth this visit, at least in weight.  So, I was glad to not have to deal with that issue again.  Because I know that Elizabeth will not handle it well when her little sister is bigger.

Elizabeth does exercise more than Ella and Ella eats a little more than Elizabeth.  As Ella's level of activity increases, I wonder how that will affect her growth.  But both girls are healthy and all is good!  That is what is important.

Joan, I'm dealing with the teeth issue also. Last week Rose had 1 pulled, one crowned. This week she has another pulled, and another crowned. And then one more tooth pulled sometime later. She has always handled it well, until this time. Lot's of anxiety. Thinking of you and hoping all goes well!
