One of Ella's Anxieties resolved

Maybe a better title is Eased, not Resolved.

This summer Ella's Cleft Doctor mentioned bone grafting as something she will need in a few years.  Ever since then Ella has been getting more and more concerned.

Will I still be able to do gymnastics?  How about ice skating?  Will the bone graft hurt?  Will it be when I am sleeping?  Are you going to stay with me Mom?  When will I have it?  Do I have to have it?

Every time she asked we talked about it.

Today was Ella's Cleft Dentist appointment and I encouraged Ella to ask her questions.

She did.

And they answered every one of them.

The one I liked best was when it will happen.  The Doctor told Ella it won't happen until after the Tooth Fairy has visited Ella 8 times.  Whew... something for her to keep track of.  Of course it also reminded Ella that the TF has not yet been here for Ella.  :-)

Ella also asked if she will have pointy teeth and told the Doctor that most cleft kids have a cleft on the left and Ella's is on the right.  I guess her speech therapist told her that.  I never knew that.

Ella wanted to know who will do the surgery, can she bring a special stuffed animal, what food will she need to eat, will it hurt, what will it do.  All those were answered too.  They were very patient and we left there relieved.

I am glad one of her anxieties are eased and we are working on the others, one by one.
