Faith Formation

Elizabeth goes to Faith Formation at St. Mark's School once a week. Last night we were running late and I asked her if it would be ok to skip. First she said Yes and then right away, no. So she was 15 minutes late and told the instructor she was sorry. I also said I was sorry. Ella and I were going to go grocery shopping in that hour but with less than 45 minutes, I didn't think there would be time. So we went into church and wrote down names in the Souls Book. There is a mass for All Souls Day on 11/1/08 and they have book where you can write down the names of deceased family you want the church to pray for. I wrote down my mom, my uncle Joe as well as both sets of grandparents. I was going to write down other aunts and uncles but Ella was starting to roam. Ella and I then went to visit Mary and Mike that live nearby. We had a nice visit but it was short.

When we got back to school for the Family Prayer, I saw that the 1st graders were the group chosen to lead the family prayer time. I am so glad Elizabeth decided she needed to go to Faith Formation. They each put a big candle on the table and led us in a song. They also said a special petition for prayers. I asked Elizabeth who decided what they would pray for and each child decided what their petition would be. Elizabeth's was to pray for the dead. Wow... we were on the same wave length. She said she decided that because of Calla and my Mom.

Calla is the daughter and sister of dear friends of ours. Calla died way too young.
