IEP Time

Over lunch today I had a meeting with Ella's teacher; Miss Ana and school speech therapist; Miss Karen. We were discussing the IEP - Individualized Education Process Plan that needed to be updated for the year. With special education students, they have IEPs and they are updated one or more times a year.

We were all used to the process at Ella's other school and they were great. Its good to see it at another location as well. I received glowing reports and was able to give my comments as well. It was very nice of them to accommodate my schedule by doing it over their lunch hour.

Miss Karen told me that Ella is a joy to work with, she always tries her best and has a great self image. She said that Ella likes to sit in the chair where she can see herself in the mirror. :-) She also said Ella knows when she does a good job and tells great stories. That's my girl!

When Miss Karen started working with Ella in the fall her overall intelligibility has increased from 55% to 65/70%. Way to go Ella! I have always thought the tests were low for her but its good to see its moving up. I can tell in her speech but its good to have the experts confirm it.

When I got in the car I called Ella at Day Care to talk to her. I told her that Miss Karen told me how good she is doing and that makes me very proud. Great work Ella.

Yeah Ella!!!!
I am so thrilled that she is progressing so well.

Shea has her IEP after spring break.
I just love her speech therapist...

And I am always impressed with how much the teachers care about Shea and do their best to make sure Shea is doing her best!!

I love that our girls work so hard and then receive such positive feedback!! :)
